I 'Heart' Vanessa Carlton Range Development

The first part of the Vanessa Carlton range I created was the sticker sheet. To start the creation I opened a blank Illustrator document and used the shape tool to draw a circle. I decided that for this specific sticker I wished to make the edge of the sticker red, so altered the color of the border in Illustrator.

After much discussion with Melissa and a look at sticker sheet of this sort we decided that the following font is suitable for the letter 'I' for the I heart Vanessa Carlton range. we selected this font (the fonts name is shown below) as we felt it was suitable and a thin weighted font which would not draw attention from the font used for the letters 'VC'.

I continued by inserting the logo/identity my group has created. By using this VC it shows that this merchandise is aimed specifically at the fans (as the name of thee range suggests) as her full name in not shown, and only a fan would recognise and understand what VC stands for.

Due to the name of the range me and Melissa are including a heart on all of the merchandise within this range. This is the heart we have selected to use. I found the heart by using the Google search engine. I copied and pasted the image into a Photoshop document and removed the background. I then saved the heart image as a PSD, so it can easily be placed into Adobe Illustrator. I will then re size the heart and ensure it is positioned in the correct place.

This is the sticker after I have followed the steps shown above. I will now use this first sticker as a template for the creation of the other stickers. I will ensure that each feature on the sticker is a different color either black red or white. This will ensure that although it is obvious the stickers are a set as they are similar they are also different. The use of the colors for different part of the sticker is also eye catching.

Here is the sticker sheet I have created. I will now create the packaging for the sticker sheet.

To create the packaging for the sticker sheet I first researched existing types of packaging. I found that the packing had a certain theme running through it but the overall design was very simple. For example the packaging of Avril Lavigne has a white background with pink stars. The first step I took was to open a blank Illustrator document and create the outline of the packaging. I then inserted Vanessa Carlton's name in the groups chosen font. (the fonts name is shown below).

As the packaging was for the I 'heart' Vanessa Carlton Range. I decided that the heart shape featured on all of the products should be featured on the packaging. I also through this was a good idea as the heart is eye catching and will draw the target audience to the product.

After positioning different size hearts around the edge of the packaging. I inserted two text boxes. In the first I wrote the type of product and positioned it underneath Vanessa Carlton's name. In the second I wrote what range the product was from. I did this as whilst I was conducting my research I discovered this was a code and convention that should be featured on the packaging. A close up print screen of this information is shown below.

I decided to use the following font style for this information. I have chosen to use this font style as I feel it is suitable for this information as its clear and is also the font that will be incorporated within the website. This means that there is a clear link between the products.

After finishing the packing a placed each sticker in to the correct position on the packaging, ensuring the products looked both neat and professional.

This is the final product.

To create the two pin badges I used the same template, fonts and image, I had created for the individual stickers (which i have print screened the making of above) on the sticker sheet and altered the text from 'VC' to Vanessa Carlton. I have chosen to do this to ensure a clear link between the range and to ensure a coherent range is produced.

When creating the packaging for the pin badges I opened the template I had created for the sticker sheet. I then edited this template. By doing this I have ensured that all of the common codes and conventions have been featured and the packaging is similar enough to be recognised as a range. The editing of this template has been shown below.

After the packaging for the pin badges was created I imported the images into Illustrator and positioned both pin badges correctly.

This is the final product.

When creating the keyring for the range, I began by drawing the outline of the keyring.  I then sued the same fonts and image and positioned them correctly into the document. This process is shown below.

After completing this step I used the Google search engine to find a hock for the keyring, saved the image as a PSD and then placed the file into the Illustrator document. After the file opened I positioned the hock.

For the keyring to be positioned in to the packaging I wished to create and hang correctly when for sale I decided to turn the key ring so it was vertical. I did this by grouping together all of the different layer and using the rotate tool.

I them altered the background color of the keyring from white to black and saved the files.

When creating the packaging for the key rings I opened the template I had created for the sticker sheet. I then edited this template. By doing this I have ensured that all of the common codes and conventions have been featured and the packaging is similar enough to be recognised as a range. The editing of this template has been shown below.

After I had edited the template I imported and placed the key rings into the template and saved each separately.

These are the final products.
