Concert T-Shirt Two Development

This is the original image which I have taken, and have decided to use as the main image on the front of this concert t-shirt design. I have taken the image using the Green Screen as this allows me to remove the background easily.

I opened the image in Photoshop and the first step I took was to crop the image down by using the crop tool

I then used the magic wand to remove the background. I decided to take this type of image as I felt from my research it best conformed to the codes and conventions. As the main focus would be on the top half of Melissa's (Vanessa) body.

After removing the background of the image I opened up the effects option on Photoshop. After looking at the different possible effects I selected to use the effect shown below. I decided to use this effect as I felt it was suitable for this type of products and from my research did notice that a majority on concert t-shirt images are edited in a similar way.

This is the image after I had chosen the effect shown above. I now saved the image as a PSD so the document can be easily placed or opening into Adobe Illustrator.

I Adobe Illustrator I opened a blank document into which I placed a blank black t-shirt. When taking the original image I had considered the fact the Melissa (Vanessa) was wearing a black dress but still wished to use this outfit. Due to this i decided that I would position the edited version of the image on to two different color boxes. As The color scheme my group has decided on is black, red and white I have chosen to use both red and white boxes. I began by drawing a red box and slanting the box slightly. I continued to do the same to the white box but slant the box in the opposite direction. This is shown below.

After ensuring that the white box was positioned over the top of the red I placed the image over the top. I decided to position the white box on top of the red as I felt the white made the image stand out the best.

To complete the creation of the front the t-shirt I added Vanessa Carlton name. Again I used the font agreed by my group which as created a brand identity.

After opening the blank t-shirt in another Illustrator document I positioned the year's of the tour along with the tour name (the tour name has not yet been finalised so I will update this when it has). I have decided to feature the tour name and year of the tour as this is a code and convention of a concert t-shirt.

When researching the back of concert t-shirts. I found that there where backs with just text and a back with and image with text placed over the top. for this concert t-shirt design I have decided to position the text over the top of a rose. I have decided to use a rose as this links to the color scheme, theme of the concert s well as tying in with the album cover front and back which another member of my group has created.

I found the image of the rose by using the Google search engine. I copied the image into Photoshop to remove the background and then imported the image into Illustrator to be positioned on to the t-shirt back. This is shown in the print screen below.

Lastly I inserted the list of tour dates and venues. I decided to center align these as I felt this looked professional and is in keeping with the codes and convention. Also having the information in the center means that it is still visible and easy to read when the t-shirt is begin worn.

After following the steps shown above this is the concert t-shirt back I have created.
