This is the original image which I have taken to be used to create a concert ticket. I have taken this image using the Green Screen so the background can be easily edited.
I have opened the image into Adobe Photoshop and begin the editing process by firstly cropping the image and the secondly removing the background of the image with the magic wand tool. These two steps are shown in the two print screens below.
As the camera used did not link to the photography lights the image has a red tint. To solve this problem I am gong to turn the image black and white. I do this by adjusting the color balance in the following way.
Now that the image is black and white. I can place the background I have found suing the Google search engine. The background that I have found ties in with the house style my group has created.
This is the image after I have completed the editing process in Photoshop. I will now save the image as a PSD and import it in to Illustrator in which I have drawn a template.
In to the template I have inserted a background pattern. This patten is suitable to use as a background of a concert ticket as it is similar to existing products. The pattern is plain and simple and subtle it also covers the whole of the background.
I have created this ticket for a concert a Wembley arena so have specifically looked at not only the common codes and convention of a general concert ticket but also for concert tickets specifically designed for Wembley Arena. Due to this on my concert ticket I have positioned a hologram, Wembley logo, building and website.
The next step in the creation of the concert ticket was to insert the information the purchaser would expect to and need to see and know. The first thing that I did was insert Vanessa Carlton name, in the font we have agreed as a group, should always be used for her name. (as shown below) I then positioned the text box in the center and at the head of the ticket. I have decided to place her name here as this is the first part of the ticket the viewer will look at. As well as this is the commonly used place to position the artists name. (I found this whilst researching concert tickets)
The next step was to insert all of the information commonly seen on a concert ticket. I could see from my research that the following information is featured and is a code and convention. When looking at existing concert tickets I could clearly see that the information on the concert ticket is presented in the same type of font which has a type writer effect. I have found a similar font style which I have used to ensure I conform, not subvert to the codes and conventions.. The name of the font style is shown below.
I have also altered the size, letter spacing and thickness of the font. I have ensured that the most important information stands out from the page and is eye catching. Using these different effects on the font is commonly used on existing products to ensure that viewer takes in the most important pieces of information.
When deciding how to show/highlight the information of the ticket specifically for that purchaser. I decided that the best way would be to position that information inside a red outlined box. I created the box in the following way.
The information which I have positioned within the box is the entrance, row letter and seat number.
The last features/ codes and conventions I created for the ticket was the list of charges in a small font and positioned at the foot of the page and a bar code.
After all of the above steps have been taken this is the concert ticket I have created. I will now collect target audience feedback for this product.
